Instinct FAQ
Does Instinct work on WhatsApp?
Yes - WhatsApp, iMessage, SMS and voice calls all reach the same assistant. Details.
Is there an Instinct app to install?
No day-to-day app: the chat thread is the product. There is a web app at app.instinct.com that works mostly as an admin panel, and the terms mention a Mac app.
Is Instinct free?
Free while invite-only, per founder Noah Shinn. No price is published yet. What we know about pricing.
How do I get access?
An invite from a current user, or the waitlist at instinct.com. Step by step.
Can Instinct read my saved passwords?
No. Its credential vault is built to fill passwords and card numbers into forms without being able to reveal them - a separation one independent teardown called the correct answer to the problem.
Can it act without me asking?
Yes - a clock or an event (new mail, a calendar change, your location) can wake it. Consequential actions still come to you as approval cards, and there is a platform-side safety check between "something happened" and "act on it."
Does Instinct train its models on my data?
Its privacy policy says interactions may be used for training unless you toggle off "Improve Instinct for everyone" in settings. Google Workspace API data is excluded from training under Google's Limited Use rules, and the credential vault is exempt.
Can it spend my money?
If you connect a card, yes - that is the point, and the risk. Set budgets in plain words and keep approvals on. Safety rules.
What happens when it makes a mistake?
Its terms make you responsible for reviewing its actions and say its records "may not always be accurate." Real mistakes are on record - cancelled flights, surprise reservations - so review matters. The honest list.
Who owns Instinct?
Spear Street Technology, Inc. of San Francisco, founded by Noah Shinn (ex-Sierra). Valued at $10 billion after its September 2026 Series C.
Can friends without accounts join a group chat with it?
Yes - since 5 October 2026, a shared Instinct can join a group chat and work for everyone, including friends with no account.
Is this site official?
No. This is an independent community site about Instinct - not official, not affiliated. We cite dated sources on every page.
