How it works and how to set it up. · Last checked: 19 October 2026

Does Instinct work on WhatsApp?

Yes. WhatsApp is one of its main channels, alongside iMessage, SMS and voice calls. You message Instinct like a contact. The work happens on its cloud computer; the answers come back in the same chat.

How to set it up

  • Sign in at app.instinct.com with your phone number (one-time code by SMS or WhatsApp).
  • In settings there is a dedicated WhatsApp channel link: "the number you use to message your Instinct on WhatsApp" - it does not have to be your sign-in number. Verify it with a code.
  • Some users run Instinct inside WhatsApp Business on a second number to keep it separate from personal chats. Optional, not required.

What a WhatsApp message can set in motion

From one chat: bookings and reservations, orders, schedule changes, research, reminders that wake it later, and - since 5 October 2026 - group chats where a shared Instinct works for the whole group, including friends with no account. Your personal Instinct asks your permission before sharing anything with a group's Instinct, and the group's agent cannot touch your personal account.

Good to know

  • Replies can take a moment while it works - it reacts with an emoji, then follows up.
  • Media works: you can send voice notes and photos, and it can send images back.
  • Approvals arrive in the chat as cards: approve, deny or dismiss. The approval binds to the exact text shown - if the plan changes, it has to ask again.
